Performance

ISPG was designed with performance as a requirement from the very beginning.

The Windows implementation takes advantage of all modern features of Microsoft IIS 6.0 and later, available to ISAPI extensions. ISAPI extensions are dynamic libraries called by IIS to handle requests, each extension being associated with a specific ISAPI handler (e.g .asp., .aspx etc). They are the most efficient way to handle web requests in conjunction with IIS.

The .ispg and .icod files must be compiled before being used by the ISAPI extension. This avoids delays in serving pages, related to compilation on demand, and the web site has a quick response from the first pages requested. ISPG should be configured to use the second method only during development and debugging, not on a production web site.
